Dan Time Podcast

Three years ago this week (or was it last week?), I created this logo, bought a little H1N1 recorder at Guitar Center, found a hosting platform, started firing off emails - and launched the Dan Time podcast - August 2023 -

A show that no one asked for, demanded, requested or pleaded with me to launch - like a tiny pebble into a vast ocean of podcasts.

A show that was not propelled by any one person saying to me, excitedly, “have you ever considered hosting a podcast??”

A show that few expected to survive beyond the first week, first month… first “wave”…

A show that even a very close family member recently remarked to me - “oh, you’re still doing that? I thought it was over.” To which I replied, “Dan Time will never die!”

A show that has garnered no accolades to speak of, no imitations (that I’m aware of), no high praise or recognition from media entities (ok, with one or two exceptions from outlets that would also have been happy if I had purchased products from them as well).

A show that makes me happy!

A show that shines the light on the good works and great music of various Dan’s and Dana’s and Dani’s and everyone in between!

A show that never runs ads and never tries to be anything more than it is - a genuine conversation with a person of intrigue, commonly THOUGH NOT ALWAYS named Dan or one of its derivatives.

If you have been around for all of it - THANK YOU for tolerating some of the cheesy moments I have fallen into in past episodes. Thank you for watching this show grow and develop. Thanks for “telling a friend” about this little podcast over here that’s kinda all right!

What is happening here?? I could have never dreamed of this moment.

Bryan Adams’ smash single “Heaven” playing at a loud, crisp volume as I hit the detergent aisle at DG. I take back everything I’ve said on previous episodes about Dollar General. Corporate leadership must be secret Dan Time listeners. There’s no other explanation for this about face.

Until this year, the only way you *might* hear some music at a DG store would have been at the front counter - because the cashier was resourceful (or desperate) enough to play an AM/FM radio or a Bluetooth speaker..

BONUS episode of Dan Time available wherever you listen to podcasts. Many of us have been through the loss of a special animal - maybe more than once. It’s never easy and they never leave our hearts. I recently had to say goodbye to my special Trudy (12 years). She came to me as a 5-week-old kitten. Will always love and miss her. ❤️

Bringing the flip phone BACK to my life after a 15-year hiatus. I’m pretty excited about it. Not quitting the smartphone cold turkey - because we’ve established that it’s next to impossible to get by without one. But how about pushing it to the peripheral of my day instead of the forefront?? More time on laptop & flip phone & staring at clouds or leaves blowing on trees on occasion is the goal….
