WUWF FM is a listener-supported public radio station licensed to the Board of Trustees of the University of West Florida, located in Pensacola Florida. Broadcasting since January 1981, the station is a member of National Public Radio (NPR), Florida Association of Public Media (FPBS), American Public Media (APM), and Public Radio International (PRI).
WUWF public radio operates in HD (hybrid digital) mode, providing the opportunity to multicast, which means three separate radio channels are available via HD receivers:
WUWF FM1 is the HD signal of WUWF’s main channel. The format is news/talk weekdays with a variety of music programs during evening hours and a variety of educational and entertainment programs on the weekends.
WUWF FM2 available online, via the WUWF free app, or via HD receiver, broadcasts classical music 24 hours daily.
WUWF FM3, also available online, via the WUWF free app, or via HD receiver, began providing the SightLine reading service for vision impaired, in September 2011. The 24 hour service features volunteer daily readings of the Pensacola News Journal, a locally produced Children’s Hour and the syndicated Gatewave reading service. SightLine can also be heard over the secondary audio programming (SAP channel) of WSRE TV.
WUWF.org and the WUWF Mobile App allow the listener to customize programming preferences and access web only content, providing enhanced information, education and entertainment. Significant events from the University of West Florida are also periodically webcast online.
