The majority of the SBC uses clear biblical commands and the minority side supports their position with descriptive verses, personal narratives, appeals to emotion, wordplay, and ad hominem attacks.

Their doctrinal statement is the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. Pastor Robert Briggs attended Queen’s University, Belfast, in Northern Ireland, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Divinity in 1992. Before coming to serve as a staff pastor at IBC in 2003, Rob served as a pastor in Northern Ireland from 1992-2000. A megachurch that never puts anyone under church discipline and a small church that has multiple cases a year are both cause for concern. One ditch is neglecting church discipline and the other ditch is using any sin as grounds for expulsion or not possessing discernment when admitting new members. Avoid abuse and disuse of this power.
