Look who's in town! Carl the Collector is here for two great family events — WSRE PBS KIDS Day at Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park tomorrow and Amazing Kids Day at WSRE next Saturday.

Carl loves to collect things and looks forward to acing the scavenger hunt at Gulfarium! He'll be at the park from 10am to 2pm along with Clifford the Big Red Dog.

to a grainy WSRE station ID from days gone by. Today marks the station's 58th anniversary — and, yes, we ate cupcakes! WSRE began broadcasting over UHF Channel 23 on Sept. 11, 1967, which was two months before President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Public Broadcasting Act. The first station and tower at then PJC and a transmitter building on Fairfield Drive were constructed the year prior, and the Escambia County School District assigned the call letters, WSRE, for Santa Rosa and Escambia counties.
