Ava Leitze, the 2023 Heart of Illinois Fair Queen, passed away from cancer at the age of 20. She was an accomplished student, maintaining a 4.0 GPA in high school and earning multiple academic honors at the University of Kentucky.

Ava Leitze of Pekin was a champion barrel racer, a Heart of Illinois Fair Queen and an honors student before leukemia claimed her life at age 20.
