Steven Stuart, 35, has been officially indicted on a murder charge for the death of 7-year-old Jayden Carlson, who passed away in December 2017. But the story behind his death starts all the way back in August 2012. Prosecutors say Stuart was dating Jayden's biological mother when he violently threw the then-2-year-old toddler to the ground simply because the little boy wouldn't stop crying.
Before the attack, Jayden was a perfectly healthy, walking, and talking toddler. After Stuart got his hands on him, the little boy suffered severe, life-altering injuries and could no longer walk, talk, speak, or eat on his own. He fought bravely for five years before tragically succumbing to ongoing medical complications in 2017.
While Stuart was previously convicted of assault and battery for the initial 2012 attack, prosecutors have now leveled the ultimate charge of murder against him. Jayden's adoptive mother expressed mixed emotions but said she is ultimately "ecstatic" that his abuser is finally facing full accountability. Stuart is currently being held without bail.

Shotsie Buck-Hayes, 30, has been sentenced to life in prison—with all but 40 years suspended—after pleading guilty to the horrific attempted murder of Virginia City Councilman Lee Vogler. The motive? Buck-Hayes discovered his estranged wife was having an affair with the councilman.
But what shocked the court wasn't just the attack—it was the cold, calculated preparation. Buck-Hayes admitted to police that he bought gasoline and purposefully melted Styrofoam into it so the chemical mixture would "make it burn longer".
