1967 - Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" entered the Billboard chart, where it peaked at #5.
1974 - Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama" came out.
1999 - Eric Clapton put 100 of his guitars up for auction at Christie's Auction in New York City to raise money for his drug rehab clinic, "The Crossroads Centre". His 1956 Fender Stratocaster named Brownie, which was used to record the electric version of 'Layla', sold for a record of over $497,000. The auction helped raise nearly $5 million for the clinic that year.
2000 - KISS auctioned off memorabilia from their touring days. The items brought in $876,000 on the first day, of a two day event.

This movie was originally going to be called "Cheek to Cheek".
Purchased by 20th Century Fox but, Fox ended up sitting on the script for a year, putting it on the back burner. Well Paramount stepped up and snatched "Cheek to Cheek" and after 22 re-writes, "Cheek to Cheek" became the movie we know today as Footloose. The movie was made with a 58 million budget, and went on to earn ten times that at the box office becoming the seventh highest-grossing film of 1984. To this day, it's still a "go to" movie that holds up to generations to come.

two Grammys.
1990 - Buddy Holly's Gibson acoustic guitar sold for over ($237,419) at auction. The guitar was in a tooled leather case made by Buddy himself.
