The City of Toledo celebrated the opening of the newly-enhanced Levis Square Park downtown, marking the completion of a $3.5 million dollar renovation. During his remarks, Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz emphasized the significance of Levis Square’s transformation in supporting downtown revitalization and fostering community connections.
“Levis Square has always been a vital part of downtown Toledo, but this transformation takes it to the next level. It’s not just about new features— it’s about creating a dynamic space where our community can thrive,” the mayor said.

Penta Career Center's 13th annual Cruise-In takes place Wednesday, September 25, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the campus, 9301 Buck Road, Perrysburg Township. Vehicle and motorcycle owners are admitted free with the donation of a non-perishable food item or personal hygiene item for the Penta Pantry.

The Arts Commission will be holding Momentum 2024 in downtown Toledo from September 20 to 22 on North Superior Street, between Madison Avenue and Adams Street, featuring plenty of indoor and outdoor artists.

Each day will feature live entertainment, partner programming, food vendors, and a pop-up bar in the Gardner Building, 500 Madison Avenue. Additional spaces activated for the event are Brood X Film Showcase, 331 North Superior Street, and the Toledo Museum of Art Glass Pavilion, 2444 Monroe Street, for the Momentum Intersection Exhibition.

Barbara Orange, chairwoman of the Lucas County Republican Party, is leading in the hosting of an event in conjunction with the Alliance for a Safe Texas on the southern border crisis and illegal immigration's impact on Northwest Ohio this Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The event will be at the Lucas County Republican Party Headquarters, 1306 Kittle Road in Holland.

Yesterday afternoon, Toledo's sewer and drainage crews discovered a 24-inch sanitary main along Ottawa River Road had collapsed needs two separate repairs. The main services households in Point Place from Ottawa River Road to 305th Street and down to 131st Street. In anticipation of rain, repairs will not be able to occur until Monday. In the meantime, crews are utilizing pumps to minimize the impact on residents in the area.
Crews will continue to monitor the area throughout the weekend to ensure everything remains under control. Call Engage Toledo at 419-936-2020 to report water in the basement.

Due to a series of fatal crashes on both sides of the Ohio Turnpike, ALL eastbound and westbound traffic is being diverted off of the highway near the Lucas County-Fulton County line. The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission has posted diversion routes for both sides of the highway.

The Black Swamp Conservancy's second Music on the Maumee concert is happening next week, on Wednesday, August 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. At this time, they are completely sold out of rental kayaks, but BYOB (bring your own BOAT) tickets are still available for $15. The Charlie Millard Band will be performing on a pontoon boat coasting down the Maumee, with your kayaks and canoes in tow. The City of Toledo has announced a "Clean Toledo" recycling event at Manhattan Plaza on Saturday at 553 East Manhattan Blvd, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This free event allows residents to bring a variety of acceptable items for recycling:

Tires: Up to 10 tires on or off the rim (no commercial tires) at a cost of $0.50 each.
Bulky items and refuse: Air conditioning units, refrigerators/freezers, and large appliances.
Cardboard, phone books, and newspapers
Document shredding and recycling
Electronic waste: TVs and CRT monitors.
Household hazardous waste
Paint and stains: Oil-based paints, stains, and latex paint.
Packing styrofoam: No plates, cups, or other food-grade containers.
Residential yard waste: Sticks, branches, leaves, and grass clippings.
Scrap metal
Clothing and household goods
Computers and Laptops
Medical equipment: Accepted on August 24th, and October 5th.
