Man, back in the day it wasn’t easy to find info on recording engineering.

If you wanted to learn, you really had to dig. You had to buy books, read forums, ask questions, and figure things out on your own.

Over the years I picked up a few tools that helped me a lot on my journey as an engineer. These five books right here were a big part of that.

I’m leaving them here as a resource for younger mixers who want to understand why certain pieces of gear were used and what made them special and how to adapt them into today’s standards.

We had the most wonderful experience recording my daughter’s first vocal song at R & J Recording Studios. From the moment we walked in, Rick made us feel completely at ease — warm, welcoming, and truly professional.Rick was incredibly patient and supportive, guiding her through every step of the process and making sure her voice was captured beautifully. He balanced technical expertise with encouragement, which helped her sing with confidence and enjoy the entire recording journey.The final track exceeded our expectations — crystal clear sound, thoughtful mixing, and a polished finish that still kept her natural tone and expression intact. For a first recording experience, this could not have been more perfect.I highly recommend R&J recording studios to anyone looking for a recording space that combines top-quality production with a nurturing, creative environment. This was my very first studio session that I ever attended. I was featuring a song with my brother in Christ and I was very nervous. Rick went above and beyond. He has 25 years experience and a college degree in this field 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 ! He was so patient kind understanding his art to mix and master is God ordained. He truly is talented. There is no bathroom so be aware of that. I look forward to doing my own thing independently with him !!! Thank you so much Rick ! God bless you 🩵👏🏽

The best to ever do it. I always leave the studio more confident in my work. Rick turned a track I wasn’t feeling into one I can’t stop playing and that’s pure talent right there!!! 🔥

THE BEST!!!!Don't waste your time going anywhere else....this is it. I have worked with engineers who were supposed to be the best and they were good....I can even say they were great.....but Rick....THE BEST!!!

Exelente experiencia en R&J Recording Studios. Me senti muy cómodo durante mi sessión ya que desde un primer minuto Rick te hace sentir como en casa . Un muy buen profesional en todo sentido .Una experiencia como para repetir y repetir.
