Happy Wednesday, it's time for the Illini State Bank THROWBACK TRACK OF THE DAY!

Today's track was the second single on the fourth album by Kings of Leon, it's "Use Somebody"!

While it took a little time for the song to get onto the chart, it took no time shooting it's way up to #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also managed to take the top spot on the Pop Songs chart and win 3 Grammys that year, for Record of the Year, Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group, and Best Rock Song.

Congratulations to our Teacher of the Month, Maya Durdan!

Ms. Durdan, a dedicated 5th-grade teacher at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School was nominated by parent Katie Himan, who praised her as *“kind and caring.” ❤️

Happy Wednesday, it's time for the Illini State Bank THROWBACK TRACK OF THE DAY!

Today's track was the second single on Weezer's debut album, it's "Buddy Holly"!

While it managed to take the penultimate spot on the Billboard Modern Rock chart, it only made it up to #18 on the Billboard Hot 100. Further gaining accolades, Rolling Stone placed it at #484 on the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list in 2021.

Congratulations to our Love on the Air winner, Emily Sharisky and her fiance!

From middle school to forever—this is the love story of Emily Sharisky and her fiancé. It all started back in 6th grade when they first met. They dated for 11 months, but like many young love stories, they parted ways. However, fate had other plans! Freshman year rolled around, and they reconnected, their bond reigniting. By the summer before sophomore year, they were back together again, stronger than ever.

Through high school, they experienced all the milestones side by side—going to prom, graduating, and supporting each other’s dreams. Together, they took a leap and moved to Arizona to start college, but eventually returned home to Illinois. While Emily pursued their bachelor’s degree, her fiancé discovered a deep passion for playing guitar and started diving into music creation.

In September 2023, he proposed, marking the beginning of the next chapter in their journey. By July 2024, they bought their first home together, solidifying their commitment to a lifetime of love and adventure.

This Valentine’s Day will be their 12th together, a testament to the enduring power of love that started as middle school sweethearts and has only grown stronger through the years. Here's to many more memories, milestones, and moments of joy ahead!

Taking influence from reggae and turning jt back towards the pop roots of the group, the group crafted a classic pop hit. The song was a chart-topper as well, sitting in the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for nine straight weeks.
