NO DORA FOR WABASH: Mayor Scott Long announced Monday evening a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) for downtown would not be reintroduced to the Wabash City Council for consideration.

“Initially, I intended to present [DORA] at tonight’s [Wabash City Council] meeting. I have decided to withdraw even proposing DORA to the City of Wabash. This is due to negative feedback from the community. I don’t think it would have passed in the city council,” said Long. “I did not want to give my administration or Downtown Wabash a black eye in the public’s view.”

North Miami Middle/High School started a new school year with fresh, but familiar leadership. Karise Kabage, who was formerly the assistant principal of the building, stepped up as principal, and has big goals as she continues her leadership in the district.

“Being the principal, the lead in this building, it’s a huge honor. I’ve worked with all of these people in several capacities. Some of them I taught alongside them for a couple years, some may only know me as an assistant principal, and with new teachers in the building now, they only know me as principal," Kabage said. "So, there are varying levels of relationships that have been built over the course of the 13 years I’ve been with the corporation, and it’s an honor to lead them."
