Friday morning, 9/25, Cindy and Elece will be conducting the interviews of 2 candidates running in the Petaluma Mayoral race. Instead of our regular 60 minute show, this show will run for 90 minutes from 11:00 to 12:30 in order to offer all candidates a 25 minute interview including an opportunity for a brief closing statement. On this day, we have Kevin McDonnell (11:00), and John Hanania (12:00). From 11:00 to 11:30, Cindy and Elece will discuss a few of the upcoming ballot measures. Starting Friday morning, 9/18, Cindy and Elece will be interviewing Petaluma mayoral and city council candidates, and Sonoma County District 2 candidates who are running in the November 3rd General Election. Instead of our regular 60 minutes morning program, these shows will be 90 minutes from 11:00 to 12:30 in order to offer all candidates a 25 minute interview (only Petaluma District 1 candidate Nate Martin has declined our offers). All candidates will be given the same questions and will have the opportunity for a brief closing statement.

Hunger Action Month: Community in Action

September is Hunger Action Month, a time to recognize the impact of food insecurity and the importance of coming together to make sure our neighbors have enough to eat. In Sonoma County, roughly 1 in 4 residents experiences food insecurity, driven by high living costs, rising grocery prices, and wages that have not kept pace with inflation.

This Friday, September 11, at 11:00 a.m. on KPCA’s Inside Petaluma, we’ll be talking about National Service and Remembrance Day and a powerful nationwide effort to address food insecurity through service and giving.

Our guests will be:

Trever Burgon, President, San Rafael Stake, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Lynne Gordon Moquete, Founder and Executive Director of Una Vida

Their organizations are participating in American Gives, a nationwide initiative celebrating America’s 250th anniversary through service and generosity. The effort has a goal of providing more than 6.5 million meals to families facing food insecurity, including the donation of 250 semi-truckloads of non-perishable food across all 50 states.

The initiative also encourages Americans to give their time through JustServe, a volunteer platform connecting people with opportunities to serve in their communities.
