Boyne City locals, do you ever stop and think about how ridiculous it is that this can just be the view on a normal day? 😂

You could be heading downtown, grabbing groceries, or just driving home and there’s Lake Charlevoix casually in the background.

I think when you live somewhere long enough, you start getting used to it.

Then every once in a while you look around and think… yeah, we have it pretty good here.

Boyne City locals, does this ever get old?

Traverse City gets a lot of attention, but for some buyers, Petoskey just fits the life they’re looking for.

A smaller downtown where you’ll start recognizing familiar faces, skiing close enough for a normal winter weekend, and a pace that actually feels like a small Northern Michigan town.

You can compare Petoskey and Traverse City on paper all day, but they really aren’t competing for the same buyer.

Swipe through for a few reasons my clients have chosen Petoskey.

And if you’re trying to decide where you fit Up North, send me a DM. I’m happy to help you compare your options.

We’re only a few weeks away from this. 🍂

If you’re planning a fall drive through Northern Michigan, a few spots I’d put on the list:
🍁 M-119 through the Tunnel of Trees
🍁 M-131 around Boyne Falls
🍁 US-31 along Little Traverse Bay
🍁 The drive around Walloon Lake
🍁 Deadman’s Hill overlooking the Jordan River Valley

Save this for peak color season, and send it to whoever you’re taking on the first fall drive. 🍁

If your number starts with 231, you probably don’t need this one explained. 😂

Around here, rich can look like getting out on the water after work, knowing exactly where to go when the leaves start changing, running into someone you know downtown, and spending summer weekends near the lake without having to plan a whole vacation around it.
A lot of what people travel to Northern Michigan for is just… home for us.

And after another really good summer Up North, I’d say that 231 number is still a pretty good one to have.

What’s your favorite part about living in the 231?

Living in Petoskey means dealing with long winters, but we all think it’s 100% worth it. 😉

Because once summer gets here, this is pretty much where everyone wants to be.

Days on Little Traverse Bay, boating, beach days, dinner downtown, long evenings outside, and weekends that usually revolve around the water in some way.

And now that summer is officially behind us, I have to say, we had a pretty good one this year. Petoskey really showed off. ☀️

Anyone else already missing it?

A home can look perfect in July and still come with a few Northern Michigan realities you won’t notice until winter.

None of these are automatic dealbreakers. They’re just things I’d want you to understand before you buy.

What’s one thing you always check first when looking at a house?

One thing I’ve learned helping families find their place Up North is that every town has its own feel, and Boyne City is an easy one to understand once you spend some time here.

Lake Charlevoix sits right at the edge of downtown, so you can go from coffee or dinner straight to the waterfront and boardwalk. In summer, there’s boating, golf, and mountain biking at Avalanche Mountain. Then winter rolls in and Boyne Mountain is just a short drive away for skiing.

That mix is what gives Boyne City such a strong year-round feel.

I live in Petoskey, but Boyne City is one of those places I’m always happy to show people because for the right person, it just clicks.

Maybe the grass really is greener here. 💚

What’s your favorite thing about Boyne City?

The end of summer always stings a little… thankful for the lake days, long evenings, boat rides, dinners that ran late, and all the Northern Michigan memories I already wish I could relive. 🚤🌊🌅

Retiring in Northern Michigan sounds pretty easy to love, but it only works if the trade-offs fit the way you actually want to live.

For some people, these are dealbreakers. For others, they’re exactly why Up North feels right.

Which one would you think about most before making the move?
