Congratulations and thank you to Lisa for being our latest Spotlight Athlete!
When I first considered joining Rail Stop Fitness, it was about more than just finding a gym, it was about taking control of my health and preparing for the future. With a family history marked by heart attacks, my doctor gave me a clear directive: “Step it up.” I realized that my casual workouts weren’t enough, and I needed something more. CrossFit had a reputation for intensity, but that only intrigued me more. With retirement on the horizon and a growing family (including a new grandbaby coming in July!), I wanted to be strong, active, and fully present for every moment, from skiing trips to playful days on the jungle gym with my grandson Ollie.
Before Rail Stop, I enjoyed working out with a group of women a few times a week. It was fun, and the friendships were great, but I had plateaued. I needed structure, challenge, and accountability—something to push me beyond my comfort zone. When I showed up to my first class, I thought I was in decent shape... until the warmup humbled me. It was intimidating being around experienced athletes, but that’s when Jessica introduced herself, it made me feel like I belonged. From that first class on, I knew I was in the right place. This was where I would transform—not just physically, but mentally.
Since joining, I’ve seen incredible growth in both my health and performance. I’ve improved my body composition, made significant progress in my weight and measurements, and most importantly, finally found a rhythm that supports better sleep and mental clarity. Endurance has become my proudest achievement. I’ve learned how to pace myself, track my progress, and break barriers I never thought possible. I still get excited thinking about when I nailed my first toes-to-bar! What I love most about Rail Stop is the community: it’s like walking into the Cheers bar—everybody knows your name. From core workouts to burpees and even back squats, every challenge is met with encouragement. Whether it’s Rudy correcting my form or Jacob cheering me on, I’m reminded daily that I’m not doing this alone. If you’re on the fence about joining, just know—this is more than a gym. It’s a place where you grow, connect, and find your strongest self.
