The sightings of uncollared wolves seems to be on the rise since the collarded ones were released. These nasty animals have been here for years, there was no reason to bring more in. I ran into one just south of Breckenridge back in 2003.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife investigated a wolf depredation case involving an uncollared wolf and a cow in Jackson County.

For those who don't live in Colorado, the topic of reintroducing wolves is a highly heated topic. After the state released 10 wolves, ranchers are losing cattle to these "kill for fun" animals and the state is doing little to nothing to help.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The plan to reintroduce more wolves into Colorado has drawn opinions from both sides of the argument. In the minds of ranchers, more wolves introduced might equal more cattle lost, and ranchers closer to home in mesa county are concerned that while no cattle deaths hav...

Fun fact
Crickets can be used as a thermometer to approximate the temperature by counting the number of chirps they make in a given amount of time and applying a formula. This relationship is known as Dolbear's law, which states that the temperature in Fahrenheit can be calculated by adding 40 to the number of chirps per 15 seconds. For example, if a cricket chirps 26 times in 15 seconds, the temperature would be 65°F (25 + 40 = 65).
