My in depth 30+ ish minute review will be coming later today, but for now…
I’ll preface my quick bullet point review by stating that I take offense to my integrity being questioned because I received a LEGO set for free in exchange for a review.
Not only have I had zero issue in the past with harshly critiquing thousands of dollars worth of sets LEGO has sent me, but 9/10 times I will not recommend purchasing a LEGO set at retail price. That includes this one.
Now… the LEGO UCS Death Star set quick bullet thoughts:
- I enjoyed building it, with help from . We had a ton of fun finding and decoding Easter eggs and replaying scenes from the original trilogy (we watched them in the background).
- I love the smaller footprint it takes to display, I would have never known what to do with a giant sphere, I wouldn’t be able to display that anywhere. See second photo, that’s where it will live, that would never work as a half sphere.
- The LEGO Star Wars diorama collection are some of my favorite LEGO sets ever.
-This is the diorama on steroids. In many ways, this is a UCS diorama. I believe it should have been named as such and I think LEGO really need to reconsider their naming conventions (Captain Jack Sparrows Pirate Ship…)
- The functions of the set are incredible, every new discovery it made me feel like a child again except when I was a child, we could never ever afford LEGO.
- I really wish the gwp was just a part of the set and we had gotten palpatine or Vader lightsaber hilt or something.
- I think the minifigure lineup is perfect.
