From the very beginning the coach knew exactly what he was doing. Or did he? Ignorance is bliss.
Do I believe this happens far more than the UIL ever is aware of? Yes, every damn season across the state. Except it never gets past central offices. Difference is…im certain this coach/team got caught because of a whistleblower to UIL The mentality is, it’s not illegal until you get caught, right?
Why did this happen at the time it did? …1.Because people like to knock down things that shine (culturally) 2. Because people knew the team was cheating and those other parents/coaches wanted to speak up against what wasn’t right? All I’m saying is if it was that much of an issue…it could have up at the beginning of the season. Maybe people weren’t aware of the transfers then?
Would this have happened if they had a losing record and weren’t headed to state? I strongly believe UIL would have never known. Change my mind.
I feel awful for the rest of the kids/parents for getting the rug pulled from under them this way.
However, I think we can all agree that none of this would have happened if everything was done legally from the very beginning.
Lesson learned. Coaches, dont do things that are questionable and seem wrong because chances are they likely are. Someone is always watching. Always Seek proper guidance if you are not sure. Now, If you are reckless and purposely and/or willingly putting your entire team at risk, you deserve everything thats coming your way buddy boy.
Final thoughts, if you are great at what you do, you do not have to cheat to win to get ahead.
