Sharing a creative win!

This piece was my first portrait I did last summer after a long time of avoiding them. After having my second child there was a lot of pent up emotions that just needed release, and this was the result.

Last night it sold at the The Tacony LAB Community Arts Center! The email came at a convenient time, because I was getting frustrated with something that wasn’t working.

There is something that hits a creative in a certain way when even one person sees a piece the way you see it when creating it.

Hey creatives! Dropping in to share some growth!

The left picture is my display from Pancake&Booze at Underground Arts in December. The right is my display from this past Saturday!

After the show in December, I was embarrassed of my display. Compared to others , I felt wildly unprepared. Reflecting later, the realization hit that the point of being in a safe creative space isn’t comparison but compassion and constructive criticism from fellow artists. So how can i do better next time?

*My goals for the next show?
-be more social, make connections, talk to people and about what I made
-be mentally present, whatever chores that are happening at home can wait
-be emotionally present, be grateful for the opportunity and the time to be around other creatives

Let me tell yall, mission accomplished!

Thank to all the amazing artists I met this weekend especially for being an awesome space partner and sending some great connections my way!

Today being National Motivation/Inspiration Day, I want to put out positive energy for the year to come when it comes to my art. For creatives the hardest thing is believing in what you make, taking pride in it even if others do not. Creating things you believe to be beautiful and fill your soul.

So update for you all!

This weekend I had the art show with Pancake and Booze at Underground Arts on Callowhill St. in Philly! Being the first time I did this event it did come with learning experiences and just a slight bit of embarrassment, but definitely a few good take aways. Plus this is just step one to getting out there!

In the weeks to come the grind will be happening! Working on getting some prints of digital art together, and always open to commissions!
