Inspired by PRINTING United Expo, Orange County Public Schools in Florida have transformed its in-plant operations.

Since installing an HP Latex 630 W in June 2024, the team has brought wide-format jobs like banners and signage in-house, delivering higher quality and faster turnaround for more than 240 schools.

Now, with PRINTING United Expo 2025 in Orlando (Oct. 22–24) on the horizon, the district is looking to expand again, this time with full-color inkjet to enhance student learning materials.

It is a powerful reminder of how Expo can spark new possibilities for in-plants everywhere.

John Cruser started at Bloomberg in 1992 as the first and only employee, initially running a Docutech printer for oil and gas industry reports, and has since expanded the print services operation to include locations in New Jersey, London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.

Running a self-supported printing operation by charging back for services is common in the in-plant world. For other internal services, however, like marketing, photography, and conference services, this model is not as popular.

Oregon State University decided to do something about this. Inspired by OSU Printing and Mailing's successful self-funding model, and its focus on continually expanding its services, the Corvallis, Oregon, university combined five other departments into the in-plant, placing them under the supervision of Printing & Mailing Director Jeff Todd and creating a new department called University Marketing Services & Solutions.
