At 6 years old, Andrew DaCosta stood with his dad near the arrivals of the . With a radio in hand, they listened to and watched the countless flights overhead!

Thanks to his dad, Andrew built an early passion for aviation, and first attempted to get his pilot’s license at Mercer County Community College. Due to lack of planes there, though, he figured he’d just get a traditional degree and work for an airline company.

Andrew studied Engineering at and afterwards worked in the field for a year. However, his life became monotonous. Everything down to when he drank his pre-workout shake became routine, and he knew he needed a change. So at 25 years old he left his job, moved back in with his parents and spent 2 years chasing his dream.

He finished flight school, hit his required flight hours by piloting planes in Saipan, Guam and Texas, and then landed at Piedmont Airlines in Philly. In his 4 years there Andrew became a captain; however, in the last 2 he became a captain at !

Now, he’s living his dream while inspiring others to chase theirs. Having kept track of his journey on Instagram, Andrew’s met people who were influenced by his path, and he even flew one of them to their first airline training a few weeks back!

Going forward, though, he hopes to pilot a very specific journey - Andrew hopes to someday fly his parents back to Portugal (where they’re originally from), bringing his inspiration and achievements full circle! Great hanging with you, .drew!
