Today was the Documentary History Project for Youth premiere where they received the “2023 Gary Smalls Youth Media Award” recognizing their work in scriptwriting, camera work and editing for their short documentary on the Philadelphia Black Cowboys and Belmont Stables!! 🎉🎉

Five years ago, a fatal stabbing in Philadelphia and its legal aftermath caught the attention of the nation. Now, Paramount+ is about to launch a fascinating docuseries, 72 SECONDS IN RITTENHOUSE SQUARE, on September 26th. The project aims to provide a fresh view of an incident that, according to the Philly Voice, immediately “divided Philadelphians along racial and class lines,” yet ultimately proved more complex.

This three-episode crime docuseries unravels the mystery of what really transpired in July 2018 when Philly bike courier Michael White, an aspiring rapper, fatally stabbed wealthy real estate developer Sean Schellenger. Over a year later, a jury believed White’s claim of self-defense and found him not guilty of voluntary manslaughter. Examining all sides of the story, 72 SECONDS IN RITTENHOUSE SQUARE interviews eye witnesses and presents chilling, never-before-seen cellphone video of the fatal clash that calls into question what actually took place that night. In offering new perspectives, it encourages audiences to challenge everything they may have believed about this case…until now.
