Help Valor by liking, sharing, or donating. He's had a rough life but there working hard to give him the best second chance at life. ❤️
Valor had an important vet visit today, and we learned a lot about what this sweet boy has been battling. He’s gained almost 2 pounds in the month he’s been with us — a huge victory — but he’s still underweight and clearly not feeling his best. His congestion has improved, but he remains lower-energy than a he should be, which is what prompted today’s appointment.
We also discovered why he still eats strangely and why he has a head tilt and uneven pupils: Valor has a very large polyp that can be seen in his ear AND felt inside his mouth. This is likely causing multiple symptoms and has probably been affecting him for a long time.
During his exam, one kidney felt normal, but the other had some abnormalities, so we now need to test for kidney disease. We brought home a urine collection kit since they couldn’t obtain a sample in-clinic, and we should have both urine and bloodwork results soon. Once we know he’s strong enough, the next step will be surgery to remove the polyp, and he’ll be neutered at the same time.
He was also found to have a grade 2 heart murmur, which may just be due to mild dehydration, so we’re giving fluids for the next few days along with another course of antibiotics and starting steroids. Valor also has mild periodontal disease and a few broken teeth… the streets were truly not kind to him at all. 😭
Despite everything he’s endured, Valor was an absolute angel at the vet. Everyone who met him fell in love instantly. Whiskers of Love is committed to giving Valor the chance at a pain-free, healthy life that he deserves, but his diagnostics, treatments, and upcoming surgery will be costly. If you’re able, please consider donating toward his care. Every dollar helps us give this incredibly sweet boy the future he deserves.
