This year, NLGJA's local chapters are getting in touch with "Our Community."

For us, that means reconnecting with our fellow LGBTQ+ journalists to converse about current issues affecting us as reporters and coverage of the LGBTQ+ community in local and regional media. How are things in our newsrooms? How can NLGJA Philadelphia help us do our jobs better? What issues should we be advocating for?

We can discuss all these things and more over cocktails tomorrow — Tuesday, April 22 — at Knock, 225 South 12th Street in the heart of the Gayborhood.

Register by tomorrow at noon and your first round is on us. Just click on the "Learn more" button below to register.

From NLGJA:

In Memoriam: Jeff Guaracino

President and CEO of Visit Philadelphia and NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists Member Jeff Guaracino passed away at the age of 48 on Tuesday. Guaracino worked to promote the economies of Philadelphia and Atlantic City during his career as a tourism leader. Over the years, he served in various leadership positions in the tourism and marketing sector. Before taking the helm at Visit Philadelphia, he served as the chief executive at the nonprofit Welcome America and the executive director of the Atlantic City Alliance (ACA). He also worked tirelessly as a pioneer in the world of LGBTQ tourism, advocating for q***r-friendly tourism and marketing as the author of two books on LGBTQ travel. Under Guaracino’s leadership, Philadelphia was the first tourist destination in the U.S. to produce a commercial directly targeting LGBTQ travelers. He was also instrumental in bringing NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists to Philadelphia and was a beloved presence at the association's conventions for many years. He will be greatly missed.
