The Daily Pennsylvanian Alumni Association

The Daily Pennsylvanian Alumni Association This is the official page for all alumni who have worked at The Daily Pennsylvanian, Inc. The Board meets in Philadelphia three times each year.

The Daily Pennsylvanian Alumni Association (DPAA) is an organization of alumni of the University of Pennsylvania's student newspaper, The Daily Pennsylvanian. The DPAA has a dual mission of serving both its alumni members and the current student staff of the DP. The newspaper was founded in 1885 (originally as "The Pennsylvanian" before becoming daily). The DPAA was created in 1987, although there

had been several previous short-lived attempts to create an alumni organization dating back to the 1960s. More than 3,000 living DP alumni have joined the DPAA and can be found through the alumni directory on this website. Many become Paid Members of the DPAA each year, gaining access to certain Paid Member-only features and services, and defraying the costs of running the DPAA. One of the goals of the DPAA is to cover its costs, so that the alumni organization does not need to draw funds away from the newspaper. The DPAA is run by a 12-person Board of Directors, who serve staggered three-year terms. Alumni interested in serving on the Board may nominate themselves each fall by contacting us at [email protected]. If you are a DP alumnus who has not received periodic emails or mailings from us, and you haven't previously used this site, please sign up for your free Basic Membership by going to dpalumni.com. If you have previously registered with the DPAA and want to get your login name and password to update your contact information or access other features of the website, please write us a short email at [email protected] with your name and class year, and we'll send you login information. Contributions to the DP/DPAA are greatly and gratefully appreciated. You can designate a contribution to the Eric Jacobs Scholarship Fund, which helps current DP students devote more time to the DP instead of maintaining outside jobs, or the DP Development Fund, which aims to provide for a new home for the DP and other long-term needs of the organization.

For 140 years, The Daily Pennsylvanian has stood as Penn’s watchdog. Fearless, relentless, and unwavering, the DP has held leaders accountable, asked the difficult questions, and told the stories that matter to our community. The DP has always been more than a newsroom. It has been a home where

Thank you to everyone who stepped up for The Daily Pennsylvanian Watchdog Challenge on Giving Tuesday. Your generosity is the reason our student journalists can do this work.

The DP does not receive funding from the University of Pennsylvania. Because of you, students can stay in the newsroom a little later, chase one more source, ask one more hard question and learn what it means to serve the public with their work. You are helping keep Penn’s independent Watchdog strong.

It is not too late to feed the dog this year. The Watchdog Challenge continues, and every gift made before year end will still be matched, doubling your impact for independent student journalism at Penn. If you have not given yet, or if you would like to add to your support, you can make a matched gift here: https://www.dailypennalumni.com/homepage/watchdog-challenge

The DP has been Penn’s watchdog since 1885. We train student journalists, hold institutions accountable, and keep our community informed. This Giving Tuesday, you can help ensure the next generation can do the same.

Through the Watchdog Challenge, alumni have pledged $150,000 in matching funds. Every gift made by December 31 will be doubled, powering the work of our independent newsroom and the students who bring you the stories that matter.

Double your impact today at the link in our bio!
