After 20 years of exceptional leadership, Dr. Jamesetta A. Newland is retiring from her post as editor-in-chief of The Nurse Practitioner at the end of 2025.

Throughout her tenure, Dr. Newland has been a visionary force, shaping the journal into a trusted, inclusive, and forward-thinking resource for advanced practice nurses throughout the United States and those in similar or equivalent roles globally. Under her leadership, the journal has served as a key advocacy platform for advanced practice nursing; promoted diversity, equity, and inclusion in its pages; and won myriad awards for timely, high-quality content.

Dr. Newland’s legacy is an unwavering commitment to excellence that will outlast her service on the journal. The Nurse Practitioner is deeply grateful to Dr. Newland for her decades of dedication. We look forward to working with her throughout this transition.
