What was once a longtime surface parking lot will soon be home to a seven-story mixed-use building with 157 apartments, retail space, and parking. We first covered this site back in 2018 — and after several redesigns and a developer switch, Alterra Group has officially broken ground. Completion is expected in 2027.

UPDATE: The former Painted Bride site on Vine Street is officially coming down.
After years of back-and-forth over preservation, demolition crews will be clearing the way for a six-story building with 64 apartments and ground-floor retail.

The site at 230–36 Vine St. has been a fixture in Old City for decades and now it’s about to look very different.

UPDATE: Thomas Paine Plaza is finally taking shape.

The redesigned public space—sitting between LOVE Park and City Hall—is moving closer to reality, complete with more green space, new seating, and even a dedicated area that keeps Philly’s skate culture alive. It’s a major rework of one of Center City’s most recognizable plazas, led by Ground Reconsidered with input from Skate Philly.

UPDATE: The World of Flight Jordan Brand store at 1617 Walnut St. in Rittenhouse is set to open October 10, marking the first U.S. location of its kind. We covered this proposal when it was first submitted to the Historical Commission, and now it’s becoming a reality.
