Happy Labor Day! Here's a lo-fi flashback to when Bonfire member Alex Wiles interviewed Jim Moran on MMPTV about organized labor's role in national politics and what can be learned from efforts to form a national Labor Party in the mid 90s.
In addition to heading up the Philadelphia branch of the Labor Party, Moran was also executive director of the Philadelphia Project on Occupational Safety and Health and was a member of seven different unions. Moran also shares his thoughts on the Occupy Wall Street movement, the challenges facing American workers and the need for various interest groups to join forces to fight for economic justice and human rights.

#TBT to our project with Asian Arts Initiative (2019). We learned so much from doing this project. Did you know Philly's Chinatown is one of the oldest in the country? AAI is using their space to allow people to practice and teach K-pop Dance, Tai-Chi, Dragon Boat Racing, and much more! We are proud and happy to continue helping people tell their stories.

In order for Philadelphia to make a real change when it comes to disinvestment, leaders listen to the wisdom of the people who live here.
Philadelphia's communities have a vision for how communities are resourced and how peoples' futures are safeguarded. We were honored to help elevate visions for a better future with Amistad Law Project's Defund the Police campaign to help catalyze social change. Please check out this video we made.
We're happy to elevate the stories, concerns, and culture of people in our community in this movement.
As this year draws to a close we feel it is important to thank our clients, networks, and families- without whom Bonfire would not exist. Philadelphia Area Cooperative Alliance, Movement Alliance Project, Philadelphia FIGHT, Amistad Law Project, PA Stands Up, and Doc Society are just some of our many clients and partnerships forged in this year and previously. For their support and yours (yes you!) we are immensely grateful. Thank you. This has been a difficult year for us all but growth and evolution allowed us at Bonfire Media Collective to persevere through. From us to all of you, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year. Wishing you peace, strength, and healing now and in 2021.

Sending lots of love to all our communities in these uncertain times. Bonfire is still conducting some filming on a case by case basis, with lots of care and precaution, but we are mostly working from home. That means a lot of editing! As a small business, we rely on the daily hustle to survive. If you have projects that are heavily reliant on editing, this is the time to reach out! Much love, solidarity, appreciation and health ❣️
Ben and Helyx at the ALLIED MEDIA CONFERENCE! Bonfire sends our members all over the country to cool events and workshops, then they bring the experience back to the collective. Bonfire Media Collective is a worker-owned production company focused on telling human stories that catalyze social change.
When we think of a Bonfire, we think of people coming together to tell stories, looking into the fire, imagining stories of the world around them.
We started Bonfire as a worker-owned business to create a means to ensure fair pay, democratic leadership and respectful working conditions in an industry that is plagued by low wages, inconsistent income and long hours.
By sharing our resources, skills and networks, our members gain access to consistent work and opportunities to learn and grow. Our clients get access to a team with a variety of skills and backgrounds and deep roots in movement building, all sustained by a nurturing and vibrant working environment.
We worked together as a collective for over two years before officially opening our doors as Bonfire Media Collective in June 2018. Our past and current clients include the Mural Arts Program, Head Start PA, Philadelphia Writing Project, Philadelphia Area Cooperative Alliance, Rutgers University AFT-AAUP, Food Moxie, Cut50, 215 People’s Alliance and more.
We built Bonfire because we believe in community. We’re living our values in the stories we tell, and in the way we run our business. Let us help you tell your story.
