We lost a dear friend, a true original, and one of the kindest souls we’ve ever had the honor of working with — Crazy John Kerecz.
John wasn’t just a part of the That Mag (formerly Origivation) family — he was family. From his monthly column to managing our Central PA distribution, he always showed up — not just for us, but for everyone who needed a hand, a voice, or a platform.
He was a father. A bassist for the band 7th Layer. A devoted horror film enthusiast. An actor. A radio host on oshradio.com where he gave countless artists, musicians, and creatives a space to share their journey and challenges.
John had a gift for lifting others up — for showing up when it mattered. He was the kind of guy who’d give you the shirt off his back and then ask if you needed shoes too.
We are heartbroken by his loss, but endlessly grateful for the light he brought into our world.
Rest easy, Crazy John. Your legacy lives on in all the lives you touched. 💔

I was sitting in a cold, dark movie theater with my neighbor, watching Thunderbolts. It’s 11:30 p.m., and my sister was calling me. I silenced the phone, but she called again and again. Then a text: “911.” I crept out of the theater and called her back. That’s when she broke the news.
