REP RADIO_S10E10_CHURN - Vimeo Edition
RR_S10E10 - On the podcast, Nick Jonczak talks about the 2019 FringeArts offering, “CHURN”, a q***r historical sci-fi epic. Stay Tuned. Rep Radio is "On The Air"!
Sometimes, an idea needs a little push. We had a great idea for Rep Radio back in 2005, when we first launched Represented Theatre Company. The plan was to go behind the scenes to show the work going into our productions and create more reasons to hangout on our website. This was hard to do because we were already wearing Producer, Director and Marketing hats. It was not until the Spring of 2009 when many conversations with Chris Morse, encouraged me to move forward on the idea. We started with our first podcast recorded at T-Bar Teahouse in Midtown Village. Now, we have a recording but, how do we share it? Over the next several months, a workflow was created and we started to produce a weekly podcast. Whatever was recorded the week before would go live the following week. By the fall, we had produced 50 podcast episodes, covered the Red Carpet and backstage at the Barrymore Awards and had a party where Todd Holtsberry, John D’Alonzo and Ed Miller, took over the podcast and interviewed Chris and contributors Jenn MacMillan and Peter Danzig.
In 2010, Todd Holtsberry, Kristen Scatton and Andrew Cowles joined the team and I became a Executive Producer/Host. Together, we became the “Represented Podcast Network”. Chris continued to host with a focus on actors in the new “Acting Out” while Todd hosted “Direct Me If I’m Wrong”, Kristen hosted “Inside The Writer’s Mind” and Andrew chased designers for “Out Of Sight”. Later, we would be joined by Clara Elser, Melissa Amilani, Elyse Emmerling, Brock Vickers, Will Amato, Jonny Wray, Ken Cohen, Samantha Silverstein and Travis Brau-Fischbach. Everyone adding their own unique flair to the house we all built.
In 2013, we moved to Jersey City to work and study at NYU. During this time, we covered the NYC Fringe, United Solo and New York Musical Festival while continuing to embrace the Philadelphia theatre community. In 2014, we returned to Philadelphia and simplified the network with sporadic contributors in play.
In 2016, Rep Radio’s efforts were recognized by Broad Street Review and we began to produce a podcast that compliments the contributions of the many conversations had here. Now, in 2019, Rep Radio continues its 10th season along with the 4th season with Broad Street Review. We are now an “Em3ry” production. With many ideas as usual, we hope to launch more additions to the network soon, stay tuned for that. I continue to be inspired by our creative community and look forward to every conversation had on our microphones. We are so proud to return to many artistic journeys time after time and there are still so many artists and lovers to reach. So, as we say at the end of every episode...Stay Tuned! Rep Radio is “ON THE AIR”!
