Deadbeat dad left child custody papers at scene after allegedly murdering ex-wife, her new husband

On May 12, Amanda Frias Rosas and her husband Victor Frias Rosas walked into a Smith's grocery store in Las Vegas to pick up a birthday cake. It was their son's 12th birthday. Neither of them walked out.

Waiting for them, or perhaps already inside, was Amanda's ex husband, 43 year old Alejandro Estrada. Witnesses say he walked in completely calm, pulled out a gun, and opened fire. A shopper who was there described it later, saying there was no expression on his face, nothing, as he fired round after round while everyone else screamed and ran.

According to police and court testimony, Estrada shot both Amanda and Victor two to four times each. Then, as they lay on the ground, he reportedly reached into his backpack, pulled out a red folder of child custody documents, and tucked them into Amanda's arm.

He wanted everyone to know exactly why he did it.

Estrada and Amanda had been locked in a bitter custody battle over their two children, a 12 year old son and a 9 year old daughter. He reportedly owed her more than 2,800 dollars in child support. According to a detective who testified before a grand jury, Estrada admitted he knew murder was wrong, but felt that everything Amanda had done to get financial support for their kids somehow justified what he was about to do. He also told police he killed Victor because he was, in his words, part of the problem too.

The shooting only ended when several bystanders in the store tackled Estrada and held him down until police arrived.
Estrada has been indicted on 13 felony charges, including two counts of murder with a deadly weapon. He is being held without bail.

Two children are now left without their mother, and the man responsible allegedly planned it in advance, walked in without hesitation, and made sure everyone would know why.

Gunman Accused of Killing University of Alabama Student, Dad of Three, and the Dog He Was Pet Sitting Knew His Victims, Police Say

A quiet home in Brookwood, Alabama became the scene of an unthinkable tragedy this week, one that has left an entire community searching for answers that may never come.

Jose Felix Alvarez-Duenas, 31, a single father to three young children, was house sitting and dog sitting for a friend who was out of the country. Jazmine Alexis Bates, 22, a University of Alabama student who was just months away from graduating, was visiting him at the home. The two knew each other well. They worked together at Buffalo Phil's, a popular restaurant in Tuscaloosa.

Neither of them made it out alive. Neither did the dog they were watching.

The homeowner, who was overseas at the time, grew concerned when she couldn't reach Alvarez-Duenas and noticed someone suspicious on her back porch through her home security cameras. That triggered a welfare check, and what officers found inside was devastating. Alvarez-Duenas was in the living room. Bates was found in a closet in the back bedroom. The family dog had been shot as well.

Investigators quickly identified a suspect using doorbell camera footage. His name is De'Kendrick Crawford, 24, and here's the part that makes this even harder to understand: he wasn't a stranger. He knew both victims, and he knew the homeowner too. They had all worked together in the past and even socialized together outside of work.

Crawford was already on law enforcement's radar before this happened. He had reportedly been terminated from his job and was wanted in connection with an earlier incident in May, when he allegedly fired shots at a building on the University of Alabama campus as he drove away.

After an hours long standoff, Crawford was taken into custody at a relative's apartment about 22 miles from the scene.

Investigators have been direct about one thing. There is no known motive. Police say the victims did nothing to provoke this and had no reason to believe anything like this was possible. Crawford has been charged with capital murder and is not speaking to detectives.

Those who knew Alvarez-Duenas describe him as a devoted father who always put his kids first. Bates was remembered as a hard worker who was on track to graduate this December. Two young lives lost, three children left without their father, and a community left with more questions than answers.

Navy Sailor and Her New Boyfriend Allegedly Shot Dead by Jealous Partner in Twisted SoCal Love Triangle

A quiet apartment in Ramona, California became the scene of a double murder that started, of all things, with an open relationship.

Courtney Chandler, a U.S. Navy sailor, was in an open relationship with her boyfriend, Ryan Proffitt. That arrangement seemed to work, until Chandler brought a new partner into their home. His name was Nicholas McClure, and he moved in with the couple, living there for about a week and a half.

According to prosecutors, that's when things started to unravel. Proffitt reportedly grew increasingly jealous watching the attention Chandler was giving to McClure. But instead of talking it out, prosecutors allege he made a plan. He got a gun from the bedroom, loaded it, and hid it, all while getting ready to confront Chandler and McClure about where their relationship was headed.
By the end of that confrontation, both Chandler and McClure were dead.

What happened next is almost as chilling as the shooting itself. Proffitt is said to have called 911 himself, telling the dispatcher he had been involved in a "lover's quarrel" and that both people were dead. When deputies arrived about four minutes later, they reportedly found him sitting on the stairs outside the apartment, drinking a beer.

Proffitt has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first degree murder. The case is still working its way through the courts.

It's a story that has all the makings of a crime drama: love, jealousy, betrayal, and a decision that can never be undone. But it's real, and two people are gone because of it.

A mother is dead. Her suspected killer is halfway across the world. Here's what we know:

Jamey Carney, 43, a mom from Westchester, NY, moved to Killarney, Ireland in 2021 to raise her daughter closer to her Irish roots. On July 7, her 13-year-old daughter found her body in bed, covered by a duvet.

A postmortem found she died of suffocation — she also had head injuries. Neighbors reported hearing a loud argument at her home the night before.

Here's the gut punch: by the time Gardaí (Irish police) identified their person of interest and began searching for him, he was already gone. Investigators believe he took an early morning bus to Dublin Airport and flew to Istanbul — hours before her body was even found.

The man, 28, had been seeking asylum in Ireland and was known to Carney — he reportedly stayed at her home regularly. Irish police are now working with Interpol, but Irish law doesn't allow extradition just to question someone. He'd need to be formally charged first.

Authorities worry he could use Turkey as a stopover to disappear into Jordan, Syria, or elsewhere — making this an international manhunt with no clear timeline.

A mother is gone. A 13-year-old found her. And her suspected killer may already be untouchable by the law that's supposed to catch him.
