You know you made the right choice on an employee when just 9 months after their start date you’re announcing a promotion. Today @shockleyfilms moves into the role of Creative Producer, and we couldn’t be prouder. In his new role Biron will be conceptualizing ideas, pitching new business, and helping us to continue evolving creatively. Sometimes he’ll be directing, sometimes he’ll be an extra set of eyes on set, or sometimes you won’t see him at all because he’ll be in a dark room furiously typing up 300 new ideas at once on the Notes app. Thrilled for Biron, thrilled for what’s next!

We are living in a moment of tremendous energy and movement. We know it takes more than just words to fight against systemic racism, specifically in our criminal justice and law enforcement systems.

In that spirit, we are putting some of our new merchandise up for sale, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to support organizations affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement in Philadelphia. Seven Knots will match up to $500 to each organization.

📣📣📣 We are so excited to welcome Biron Shockley (@shockleyfilms) to our team as a staff Production Coordinator! If you know Biron, you know the one thing he’s not: complacent. And if you don’t know Biron, chances are once you do, you’ll fall in love with his passion. He values people, collaboration, and community - which is why he’s the perfect fit here!

Biron has truly made his own way in the film industry, starting off learning from scratch and forging countless connections to make sure he’s always learning and creating. He’s been everywhere on set, from PAing to directing. His hands-on knowledge lends itself well to planning a seamless production, and his own creative vision has already pushed our work in new and exciting directions.

Please join us in giving Biron a warm welcome to our family!

Mr. Y Not

I first saw Tony “Tone” Royster (aka Mr. Y Not) and Positive Movement Entertainment (PME) perform at a party during the summer of 2016. They were amazing, and I was convinced that there was a story to be told. After a few years of back and forth, I’m thrilled to have finally made that happen.

Tone has an incredibly magnetic personality. He oozes charisma, energy, and positivity. Not to mention he’s a kickass drummer! His demeanor is especially notable given all he’s been through. Despite his circumstances, Tone has built one of the most recognizable drill teams in the city. PME’s goal is to inspire young people to express themselves through drumming, all as a means to decrease gun violence in Philadelphia.

As a Philadelphian myself, I feel that Tone is a personification of our city. It’s my honor to provide an outlet for him to tell his story.

I know as soon as things are back to normal, one of the first things we’ll hear is the sound of PME marching through the streets. Until then, I guess this will have to do.

THANK YOU to Tone and PME for helping to make Philly the greatest city there is!

We're elated to announce the addition of two new directors to our roster: Danny Corey and Corin Wells.

Danny is a director and cinematographer working and living in Los Angeles. He travels the country and abroad capturing stories that encourage people to feel, to hope, and to laugh. When he's not daydreaming from his tiny blue bungalow, you can spot him exploring the desert with his partner Heather and their 14 year-old dog Kodi.

Corin Wells is a writer, actor, and director from Philly, living in New York City. She teaches and performs improv and sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Corin is also the content manager and creator for T***Y, the modern bidet brand. She has written and art directed much of their advertisements and content, some of which have achieved viral success, including I'm An A**hole. Corin is a Sagittarius Sun, Virgo Rising and Gemini Moon. She thinks that's really important for you to know.

📣 Seven Knots Productions is now Seven Knots Film & Media!

When Seven Knots first started in 2014, we made mostly wedding films. Our first non-wedding client was a non-profit. We were fortunate to find our first agency client in our own backyard. And that was just in year 1.

Extrapolate that out 6 years, and you can only imagine how much has changed (and not changed). Our quality and clientele will always evolve, but our main mission remains the same: to move audiences to think, feel, and act in a new way by telling heartfelt and visually compelling stories.

That’s why we thought it was time for us to evolve our branding (along with a subtle name change and website facelift). The goal was to keep the overall theme: a version of our balloon person, who represents venturing into the unknown and going on a journey of discovery, much like the creative process (too on the nose?). Additionally, we wanted an updated typeface to modernize the look

We enlisted the help of @lynx_and_company who brought the vision to life. This sleek and classic-looking balloon person was just what we were looking for. The updated text is bold, but inviting. Thanks to Kim and her team for helping to perfectly encapsulate what Seven Knots is in the (strange) year of 2020.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t thank Kris Reif for his original design of our logo. As a new company, it’s daunting to choose an initial logo. His was so so good, and it made this decision to make a change all the more difficult. But the fact of the matter is his original logo got us to this point today, and it’s still very much alive in the design today. Thank you Kris!!

THANK YOU to all who have been a part of Seven Knots Productions, and we look forward to working with you all again as a part of Seven Knots Film & Media! Until then, stay safe, stay indoors, and keep creating!

@amberellaxo is a self-described “Philly girl at heart”. Her grandmother was born and raised in #westphilly, and she would have turned 100 years old this year - the year of the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. To honor that momentous moment in history, #philly changed its nickname to “The City of Sisterly Love”.

On Monday, we spent the day with @visitphilly as Amber took to the streets of #newyorkcity to install her widely-celebrated #gothhearts to encourage New Yorkers to visit our great city.

Amber’s energy, creativity, and passion is a great representation of what we think makes Philly the greatest city in the world.

2019 took us to Arizona, Texas, and Florida. We partook film festivals in Los Angeles, Indianapolis, and Boston. We shot many commercial jobs, began collaborations with new clients, and shot a few passion projects. It was an exciting year, and none of it is possible without the outstanding dedication and talent of our crews, both locally and nationally. Thank you for all you do to make Seven Knots what it is on each and every project. The work quite literally could not be done without you all.

Here’s to friends, clients, and collaborators both old and new on a great 2019, and I can’t wait to see what 2020 brings!

A Fighter in the Bronx: Ritchie Torres for Congress

As a product of public housing, public schools, and public hospitals, Ritchie Torres had a dream of fighting for his community in the hopes of building a better Bronx. At 25, against all odds, he became the youngest elected official in New York City, and the first openly LGBT elected official from the Bronx. He has represented Bronx communities on the New York City Council, and now he's running to represent New York's 15th Congressional District - because the Bronx needs one of their own to fight for their community in Washington.

The American Dream: Wayne Messam for America

Have you heard of Mayor Wayne Messam? We’d be lying if we said we had before we got a call from his team. But as we learned about him and his story, we became more and more excited for this day.

Wayne is the son of Jamaican immigrants. His father was a contract sugar cane cutter in south Florida. He played football at Florida St, and later started a climate-conscious construction company with his wife. Now, he’s the mayor of Miramar, FL, and today, he announced he’s running for president.

We’re honored to tell Wayne’s story as he lives out the American Dream. We hope you will take a few minutes out of your day to learn about Mayor Wayne Messam!

Our Story

At Seven Knots Productions, we move audiences to think, feel, and act in a new way by telling heartfelt and visually compelling stories.

We are a film and video production company from Philadelphia. We create visually compelling, emotional and personal videos for agencies, brands and non-profits.

Seven Knots began in the midst of a winter music video project amongst a group of friends looking for something fun to do. The fun became a passion and the passion became an identity. Since that winter, many things have changed, but the idea and motivation of Seven Knots remains the same: Make inspirational things with inspirational people.

Oh. And both our logo and our name is a reference to The Muppet Movie.
