Tonight Kabaka Pyramid and The Bebble Rockers wrap up a U.S. Tour. After playing on The Welcome to Jamrock Cruise they moved from East to West performing in 9 states. I caught them at World Café Live in Philadelphia. Personally I have been a supporter of Kabaka since the release of the Rebel Music EP in July of 2011. Kabaka is a powerful lyricist from Hip Hop Roots to a new modern flow on a roots vibe. The Bebble Rockers band had a huge sound. A six piece band who laid down powerful percussion, wicked bass lines and lots of guitar. The band was over the top as well as Kabaka’s performance. Kabaka has a way with working the crowd between smiles and his positive speech. Many people felt the connection between them and the artist which is not so common today. The show was not scripted and song selections were chosen as the show went on. Kabaka even performed a few songs which he announced they don’t play on the regular so there could be some mistakes. After a minute of thought the band played like they played these songs nightly. The high light of the show for me was a performance of Kabaka vs. Pyramid which is a battle rap between two lyrical warriors both played by Kabaka. With some help from Shackair McQueen ( Lead Guitarist) who played the opposite roll the song was solid. Be sure to check out Kabaka Pyramid and The Bebble Rockers when they visit a city near you.
