Established in 2005, the Hobby Manufacturers Association (HMA) was formed through the unification of three association within the hobby industry: International Model Hobby Manufacturers Association, Model Railroad Industry Association, and Radio Control Hobby Trade Association. NEW Aircraft Model Kit Release! – Airfix 1/48 scale Sepecat Jaguar FR.1/GR.1A ( ) – Available Now!

In May 1965, France and the UK agreed on a joint program to develop a supersonic trainer and tactical strike aircraft. Design leadership was with Brequet Aviation and the British Aircraft Corporation, so the companies established the joint company Sepecat to coordinate production. The GR.1 for the RAF was a single-seat all-weather strike and ground attack fighter equipped with NAVWASS (navigating and weapons aiming sub-system) enabling it to attack without using radars. Based mostly in Germany, RAF Jaguars were used for rapid deployment and regional reinforcement, and others flew in the tactical nuclear strike role carrying the WE177 bomb. Upgraded GR.1A Jaguars flew successfully in the 1990 Gulf War, where 12 aircraft flew 612 combat sorties without loss.

This newly tooled kit of 243 parts is 13.7” in length with a wingspan of 7.1” when completed. A waterslide decal sheet is provided for 4 different paint schemes. This is a scale plastic model kit to be assembled following the detailed instructions and does not include glue or paints.

This set features four easy-to-assemble Enterprise ships: NX-01 Enterprise, USS Enterprise NCC-1701, USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A, and USS Enterprise NCC-1701-B. Each model includes a complete set of full-color water-slide decals featuring accurate ship markings and Aztec paneling, and individual dome shaped display stands.

This kit of 58 parts builds 4 ships: NCC-1701 3.5 inches, NCC-1701-A 4.75 inches, NCC-1701-B 7.25 inches, NX-01 3.5 inches in length. NEW Military Model Kit Release! – AK Interactive 1/35 scale M1008 Troop Carrier ( #35030) – Available Now!

The M1008 is the basic cargo truck variant of the light military utility vehicles manufactured by General Motors. The first generation of GM’s vehicles developed under the CUCV (Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle) program was based on the civilian Chevrolet C/K series. They served with the US forces around the world, participating in the Gulf War and United Nations operation in Somalia.

The AK35030 represents the basic cargo truck version of the vehicle fitted with troop seats in the bed which may be assembled in folded or unfolded position. The tail gate can also be fixed as folded or unfolded or remain movable. The decal sheet contains markings for two US Army, two US Navy and one SFOR vehicle, each of them carrying a different overall color or camouflage pattern.

This kit of over 150 parts is 6.1 inches in length once assembled. The main features of the kit: Photo-etched fret, Window masks, Printed MRE boxes, Detailed chassis and cab interior, Front wheels with optional steering, Movable tail gate, and Decals for 5 painting/marking options printed by Cartograf. This Willys Gasser is ready to take to the track with the incredible Coca-Cola racing livery. Cowcatcher Magazine not only has news of interest about one of America’s favorite hobbies, but also features compelling articles about regional people, places, events and history, all professionally written and edited by accomplished journalists and contributors.

Main story in this issue: Growing up in Central Texas, David Heyde loved big machinery. What loomed largest, though, was the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad. Heyde’s MKT Central Texas Subdivision, a compact but bold HO-scale layout, captures on two levels around the walls the zest of the iconic railroad that ran from Kansas City and St. Louis to Galveston, TX, and the Gulf of Mexico. All in what once was a one-car garage.

Other stories in this issue: This year’s National Narrow-Gauge Convention is coming home, where it all began 45 years ago. The Mudhens will once again have a large presence at the convention Sept. 3-6 in St. Louis.

The Kansas City West Bottoms Railroad (KCRR) debuted in early March, with no small impact on a parcel of track along the former Missouri Pacific Railroad near the Kansas-Missouri line.

NEW Aircraft Model Kit Release! – HK Models 1/48 scale PBJ-1J Mitchell ( ) – Available Now!

The B-25, built to honor the memory of General Billy Mitchell, was one of the most famous twin-engine US bombers of World War II. By the end of its production, over 10,000 B-25s, in various models had been built. The B-25 saw service in all theaters of World War II, from the Asia-Pacific region to the Middle East and the Mediterranean to Europe. The "J" variant was the last production type built, with a total of 4,318 units. The PBJ-1J was a naval version of the B-25 used by the US Marine Corps (USMC) in World War II.

The kit features finely detailed parts, including a well-designed cockpit, realistic panel lines, and accurate landing gear. Other details: 3D print APS-3 radar wing tip mount, 3D print HVAR rockets and mounts, positional exhaust, full engine detail, and full cockpit detail with pilot. NEW Aircraft Model Kit Release! – HK Models 1/48 scale DB-7B Boston III ( ) – Available Now!

The Douglas A-20 Havoc is an American designed, twin engine, medium bomber used mainly for low and medium altitude missions. The prototype was first used operationally by the French. After their defeat at the end of June 1940, the remainder of the aircraft still to be delivered were taken over by the RAF as the Boston (Havoc for night fighter versions). The plane was widely used by the Allies such as the USAAF, RAF, RAAF, SAAF, Soviet Air Force, and France, and postwar by Brazil and Nicaragua.

The kit features finely detailed parts, including a well-designed cockpit, realistic panel lines, and accurate landing gear. Other details: Bombardier hatch in nose can be posed open; Pilot's canopy has two side windows that can be opened; and the gunner's hatch can be posed open or closed. The Fairey Barracuda was a British carrier-borne torpedo and dive bomber designed by Fairey Aviation. It was the first aircraft of this type operated by the Royal Navy 's Fleet Air Arm (FAA) to be fabricated entirely from metal. It was designed with a folding wing system, allowing it to be stored on aircraft carriers, and could carry torpedoes and bombs.
