Greetings to all my peoples far and wide! I want to let you know that I will be back on the radio tonight for the first time in over a year.
Steph and I are back in Boonville for a couple of months, and tonight I will be sitting in for the great Eric Labowitz, hosting his program, the NO Show. "NO" stands for New Orleans, which, yes, you guessed it, means that I'll be spinning music from the Big Easy for two hours, from 8:00 to 10:00 pm Pacific. (That's 10 to midnight for you wild night owls on the east coast, with various gradations for my wonderful friends in the middle of the continent.) Locals, of course, can absorb the vibes over the Mendo/Lake County airwaves. Otherwise, we stream live via www.kzyx.org. Just click "Listen Live."
I'm going to be spinning lots of LPs, and a bringing a box of CDs, and hauling my laptop in for the purposes of streaming. But mostly it's going to be those records! I spent most of the 1980s in New Orleans, and a lot of the tunes I'll be offering will be of that vintage. Radiators, Neville Brothers, Meters, Dr. John, and etc. Plus a lot of joyous traditional jazz, too, and some more progressive jazz as well. Anyway, I'm bringing a lot of stuff with me to the studio. Who knows what will happen?
By the way, I couldn't find a photo of myself at the KZYX studio, so attached I offer a photo from my days at WWNO in New Orleans, somewhere around 1984, which would make me 28 or 29. Or, to put it another way, 40 years ago!
Tune in tonight, 8-10 Pacific or 10-midnight Eastern, streaming live at www.kzyx.org. Cheers!
