When Microsoft Office arrived at Austin Pets Alive!, he was barely holding on. His body was covered in hundreds — maybe even over a thousand — ticks. He was so weak, he couldn’t stand.

The veterinary team immediately began emergency care: a life-saving blood transfusion (donated by another shelter dog), medications, and hours of painstaking work to remove every last tick.

Today, he’s fighting back. He’s in recovery, getting the love, care, and rest he desperately needs. He’s still fragile, but each passing moment brings hope.

Now, Microsoft Office is looking for a safe foster home — a calm place where he can continue healing and feel the hands and hearts that believe in him.

Elko, a dachshund-chihuahua-Jack Russell mix, was rescued in 2022 after being left to fend for himself. He found safety with William Atek, who originally agreed to foster him. But the bond grew so strong that Elko became family forever.
