This is my 13th year at . Much of it has been behind the scenes. First on the assignment desk, then producing for Joe Ducey (Let Joe Know). My most recent position reporting in the investigative unit has been the most challenging and most rewarding. Trying…

to understand topics that may be perceived as boring, but always important, and telling stories that make people care about it. I hope to some degree that has been accomplished. Because as much as I enjoy the challenge of this work, a bigger one is calling me.

Being this little guy’s mom has been the best and hardest position I’ve ever had. And right now it’s the only job my heart will allow me to take. While that may not be the case forever, it definitely is for right now.

So if you’ve ever shared your story with me, let me into your home, or even casually watched my work, thank you. It means more than you know. And thank you to ABC15 Arizona and The E.W. Scripps Company for being a place where I could tell stories that needed to be told and follow dreams that I thought were long dead, in a state that I care about so deeply.

While everyone is praising the Suns for what they do on the basketball court, a Valley family is still amazed by their act of kindness off the court.
So glad they trusted me to tell their daughter Grace's story.

In her 16 years of life, Grace Campbell made a big impression on a lot of people.

At Another Level Barber Shop in Maryvale the haircuts come with complimentary trash-talking.

Owner Mike Morrow says the shop has been in the community for 25 years and serves as a hub for lively conversation; the Suns' performance this season has dominated much of it lately.

With the Phoenix Suns just a couple of wins away from a championship, fan excitement is intense.

Arizona is in an affordable housing crisis.

I’ve spent the past few weeks figuring out why and what plans are to start fixing it. The answers are complicated, and expensive.

But this first story starts with the basics: too many people moving here, and not enough housing. Which drives up prices and hits the lowest income households hardest.

In his 2020 State of the State Address Governor Doug Ducey boasted that 350,000 jobs had been created since 2015 and that Arizona was “now the number one inbound state in America.”

In the time it took us to publish this story, Arizona Department of Economic Security made even more hoops for unemployed Arizonans to jump through for benefits.

Out of Arizona's 1.1 million households, 190,000 report being behind in rent payments and 93,000 of those households said they are likely to leave their home due to eviction. Ten percent of Arizona renters said they have no confidence that they will be able to pay next month's rent.

Carl was counting on unemployment backpay from to catch up on bills & get his 6-year old daughter's Christmas gifts.

It never came.

He's beginning to accept that there will be no gifts this year.

As many families begin preparations for Christmas, those who are still waiting for unemployment benefit payments are coming to terms with the reality that the money may not make it in time for the holiday.
