The millionaire's daughter had only three months to live, but the maid did something that shocked him.
Little Camila, the only child of Rodrigo Alarcón, a respected but cold businessman, had just received a devastating diagnosis. Doctors said she had only three months to live due to a rare disease that was progressing uncontrollably. Rodrigo, accustomed to solving everything with money, had called in the best specialists in Europe.
But the answer was always the same: There was nothing more that could be done. That afternoon, Claudia cautiously entered and found the little girl lying weakly in her crib, while Rodrigo had collapsed quietly on the sofa.
"Sir, would you like me to make you some tea?" she asked, her voice trembling. Rodrigo looked up, his eyes red from crying, and muttered with suppressed anger:
"Tea will not save my daughter." That night, after everyone had fallen asleep, Claudia stayed awake next to Camila.
She gently rocked her baby, humming a song her mother had sung to her when she was little. At that moment, she remembered something she had experienced many years before. Her brother had suffered from a similar illness. He had not been cured in a fancy hospital, but by an experimental treatment by a retired doctor who had never wanted to be known to the public.
Claudia hesitated to speak. She knew Rodrigo would fire her for even hinting at something unusual, but seeing the little girl clinging to her every breath made her take a risk. The next day, as Rodrigo was surrounded by lawyers reviewing his will, Claudia thought to herself, the inevitable was already in her mind.
Oh God, I know someone, a doctor who helped my brother when no one else could. He didn’t promise miracles, but he could try. Rodrigo suddenly stood up, angry.
"You dare compare my daughter's life to quack medicine?" Get out of here before I lose patience, Claudia bowed her head and left with tears in her eyes, but her heart burned with the belief that she had to be resolute.
Two days passed, Camila's health rapidly declined. She could barely open her eyes and her breathing became increasingly short. Rodrigo desperately pounded the table and shouted,
"Damn it, there must be a way out." At that moment, he remembered Claudia's determined gaze.
For the first time in many years, he put aside his pride and looked for her.
Tell me the truth, that Dr. Asiún is still alive.
"Where can I find him?" Claudia looked at him in surprise, her eyes lit up and she nodded.
Yes, but he didn't see anyone. He was a man who had given up everything for pharmaceutical companies. He didn’t trust the rich or their promises. Rodrigo took a deep breath. He knew that everything in his life had been bought by money, but this time he couldn’t buy his daughter’s hope.
Do anything, Claudia, save her. The plea from a man who had never bowed his head made the maid tremble. She knew this path would not be easy. The doctor lived in seclusion, far from the city, and only saw cases referred by trusted people. If he agreed, they would have to do it in secret, without telling anyone.
Claudia had arranged everything without telling the family’s official doctors. One morning, she left with the little girl in her arms. While Rodrigo followed quietly, disguised to avoid attention, they drove to a small mountain village where time seemed to stand still.
There, in a shabby house, an old man was waiting for them. His eyes were stern, and before letting them in, he said in a low voice,
"You came looking for a miracle." They had come to the wrong door.
There was only truth here, and the truth hurt. Rodrigo felt the ground shake beneath his feet. He had never been treated so harshly before.
Claudia hugged the girl tightly and pleaded,
"Doctor, we are not asking for a miracle, we just want you to try. She deserves a chance." The man let them in, observing every detail as if assessing the sincerity of her words.
The room smelled faintly of herbs and traditional medicine. Camila could barely let out a weak moan, and the doctor looked at her with pity.
What she was going through was serious, very serious. But not impossible. Rodrigo took a step forward, trembling with hope. "So,
"Can you save her? Tell me how much money you want. I will pay any price." The doctor immediately interrupted him. "Money has no meaning here. What matters is whether you are willing to do what you have never done before...👇👇
