Frozen in Shock: The First Moments of 9/11😭😭😭

These powerful photographs capture the raw, uncertain moments immediately after the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11, 2001.

At this point, few knew what had happened. Many assumed it was an accident—a small plane gone off course. New Yorkers flooded the streets, looking up in stunned silence as thick, dark smoke billowed into the blue sky. Some took pictures. Others called loved ones. Most just watched, trying to understand what they were seeing.

The second impact, just 17 minutes later, shattered that illusion.

These early images preserve the surreal calm before the collective realization: that this was not a random tragedy, but an unprecedented act of terror. They are a stark reminder of how quickly a normal morning can turn into history—and how the world can change in the space of minutes. 🇺🇸 SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 — Never Forget. 🕊️🗽Remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001 🇺🇸😭🕊️💔The Historical Memories

Edna Cintron was one of the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. She worked for Marsh & McLennan on the 97th floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

She is remembered in particular because she was seen in widely circulated images and videos at the edge of the gaping hole left in the building after the plane struck. Despite the unimaginable conditions, she appeared waving for help, a haunting image that became one of the lasting symbols of the human struggle that day.
Edna Cintron was 46 years old. She is remembered with love and honor, along with all the lives lost on 9/11.

These are the people in question on 104, northwest corner. Bottom row in the picture.

My sister’s brother in law worked for Cantor Fitzgerald. Her husband watched the tower go down with his brother in it, from his office in the Met Life building. He doesn’t talk about it. I volunteered at Ground Zero with the Red Cross so that I could feel like I was doing something, anything, maybe find a memento for him. I lasted till Thanksgiving, it was too sad seeing the rescue workers come off the pile, looking for remains of their best friends and family. 🇺🇸 SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 — Never Forget. 🕊️🗽Remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001 🇺🇸😭🕊️💔The Historical Memories

Andrew was a 34-year-old Director of Business Development at eLogic, Inc. in Los Angeles. On September 11, 2001, he was aboard American Airlines Flight 11, returning home after a business trip to Boston. He had just celebrated his 11th wedding anniversary with his wife, Shannon, and had spent cherished time with his mother, Patricia, in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, just days before the tragedy.
A native of Chelmsford, Andrew was deeply involved in his community and the Boy Scouts, where he served as a mentor and leader. He was known for his love of nature, his passion for the outdoors, and his commitment to others. His legacy lives on through various memorials, including those at the Boston Public Garden and Logan Airport, as well as through the memories of those who knew him. 🇺🇸 SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 — Never Forget. 🕊️🗽Remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001 🇺🇸😭🕊️💔The Historical Memories
