October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month!

Survivor Story:

A New Leaf: CAAFA shelter was able to assist a 61-year-old single female that came into the program after suffering years of emotional, physical and financial abuse at the hands of someone that was supposed to love and protect her. While in the shelter, staff were able to provide resources to counseling to assist with her emotions, as well as resources and referrals to employment programs to help with finding employment. The client was provided a case manager that assisted with goal-setting, advocacy to other DV services, resources and referrals, and transportation assistance. She was able to find employment and secure permanent housing out of state near her family, who is a great support system. Staff were able to work with another agency to help with relocation assistance.
