Content creation and social media marketing that actually leads to sales for small business owners won’t come from a space of being sales-forward. Storytelling content is what scales your business and your income streams because people are SO tired of being sold to in their feeds.

There is no cure but a proper diagnosis makes a massive difference. If it had been Alzheimer’s, there are treatments to slow the progression. With a diagnosis, we now know how it will affect him physically as well as mentally. With a diagnosis, I can now better plan financially for his long term care because we have a closer estimate of how long he will need it. With a diagnosis, he can be genetically tested to see if his children and grandchildren are at greater risk. With a diagnosis, he can now apply for disability because he lost his job 15 months ago. With a diagnosis, we have a timeline for both his quality of life expectancy and his life expectancy. With a diagnosis, he can decide what end of life measures he does or does not want. With a diagnosis, our six kids (including two teenagers) can better understand and prepare for the next few years and how it will continue to change their Dad.

And this fellow dementia caregiver went on and on about how I’m forcing a diagnosis to help me, not him 🙄

One of the hardest parts of our early onset dementia has been not getting a formal diagnosis for far too long. Every test pointed in a different direction but finally during an appointment with a neurologist for a second opinion, his dementia symptoms were the worst they have ever been. And finally, we walked away with a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia or FTD.

We all have to pay the cringe tax. There's no avoiding it. And even when you get better, there's still so much self-doub...
