Yoga isn’t about touching your toes. It’s about what you learn on the way down.
It’s about noticing what comes up when things get challenging. It’s about how you speak to yourself when you wobble, when you fall out of a pose, when you don’t meet your goals and expectations.
The journey towards your toes becomes a mirror. Are you forcing? Are you judging? Are you breathing? Are you listening? Are you feeling?
Every forward fold is an opportunity to practice patience. Every balance pose is an opportunity to practice presence. Every breath is an invitation to come home to yourself.
The pose isn’t the destination. The awareness you cultivate along the way is where real yoga happens.
Yoga asks us to be curious instead of critical, compassionate instead of competitive, and present instead of perfect.
So whether your hands touch the floor, your shins, or your knees it doesn’t really matter. What matters is what you discover about yourself on the journey.
