Ideas. Ideas are where businesses start and finding the right business ideas is just as much work as building the business up. So where to start?
First, what is your passion? What is your gift? Remember your passion and gift are not the same, however ideas can be born from these two things and they do.
Think about how you could turn these things into a business. For example, if you are passionate about healthy living and spend your free time researching recipes, finding new ways to work out and read up on the newest health trends, that is an idea. Start a blog or coaching business with your expertise.
Your business doesn’t have to be brick and mortar. However if it is you MUST have an online presence. Whether it is an office or physical location or work at home you need an online presence. That’s where EVERYBODY is right NOW.
You have a captive audience. Because of the Covina Virus epidemic and social distancing more people are at home now more than ever. Use that to your advantage.
Get official though. Get your EIN, DBA, LLC or INC and an official website for your business or business to be because people have the means to check your credentials, reviews, recommendations, products, services etc.
Do Not Forget SOCIAL MEDIA! It is a must. But do it properly. Get official business pages for your business or business to be on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, SnapChat, YouTube etc. Why? Because that’s where people and your potential customers are at. The more social media sites you have the better your reach.
Now just because you are online does not mean customers are going to necessarily flock to your business right away. You’ve got competition and plenty of it. You must position yourself so when people type in certain keywords and phrases your business comes up. The same way when you search online for a product or service. Not your business name. Because hardly anyone will know it, especially new customers.
So… this part here requires some knowledge of SEO aka Search engine optimization. On page SEO and off page SEO for your website, blog and all your social media sites.
I can’t tell you how often business owners skip this because: 1. Because they did not know. 2. Because they don’t understand you will not get any search business without it! 3. They are too cheap to spend on this VERY Important aspect of their business online. I repeat you WILL NOT GET search results that will get you customers if this very important aspect is not done. This will be the difference between you getting calls and your competition getting calls.
Your competition does one of two things: Either pays for ads, (Google ad words, Pay per click, etc. and /or SEO. Paying for ads can be expensive especially if you’re just starting your business it might not be cost effective. When you stop paying for Ad words, pay per click, etc. you stop getting customers.
SEO on the other hand when done properly results in a more permanent presence online, however you must update and maintain your SEO. If you don’t have the knowledge or time, (because it can be time consuming) then it is recommended to let those who know SEO do it for you.
