Cada año, ALMA recibe a decenas de estudiantes de preparatoria de todo Arizona en un taller de un día de duración en Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication , ubicada en el campus del centro de Arizona State University. Este evento emblemático reafirma el compromiso de ALMA con el apoyo a la próxima generación de periodistas. Desde el primer taller, hace 27 años, más de dos mil estudiantes de secundaria han participado, y muchos de ellos han continuado sus estudios en la Escuela Cronkite y han desarrollado carreras en periodismo, relaciones públicas y otros medios de comunicación.

Al finalizar este año, esperamos que se unan a nosotros para apoyar nuestra misión de inspirar a la próxima generación de periodistas. ¡Considere hacer una donación deducible de impuestos que nos ayudará a continuar con nuestra labor!

Each year, ALMA welcomes dozens of high school students from across Arizona in a full-day workshop at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University's downtown campus. This signature event reiterates ALMA's commitment to supporting the next generation of journalists. Since the first workshop 27 years ago, more than two thousand high school students have attended, many of those students have continued their education at the Cronkite School and have gone on to careers in journalism, public relations and other media.

As 2025 draws to a close, the Arizona Latino Media Association (ALMA) invites you to stand with us in our mission to uplift and empower Latino media professionals across Arizona. For over three decades, ALMA has served as a vital network for journalists, communicators, and storytellers who reflect the diverse voices of our communities. Through mentorship, scholarships, professional development, and advocacy, we help ensure that Latino perspectives are not only represented—but celebrated—in newsrooms and media platforms throughout the state.

One of our immediate goals is to provide ALMA members with the opportunity to attend the 42nd Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism early next year. This prestigious event, hosted by the Cronkite School at Arizona State University, honors outstanding contributions to journalism. This is the first time the award will honor Latino journalists. Maria Elena Salinas and Jorge Ramos will be in Phoenix in February to accept it. We are seeking support to help fill seats at this event so that our members—many of whom are early-career journalists or students—can experience this celebration of journalistic excellence firsthand.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to School of Journalism students Mario Sosa, Barbara Rivero and Isabella Barron, who were awarded scholarships by the Arizona Latino Media Association (ALMA)!

They, along with two Arizona State University journalism students, were honored at ALMA's holiday mixer in Phoenix on Dec. 5.
