Are these galvanized clips necessary?

I am building my first fence and it would want to find out more information on why these are used and if they are needed in my scenario.

The image to the left is an old post. It looks like the rail was hammered into the back of it. The image the right is when I found online searching for galvanized clips.

Built this setup to completely stop ground rot - cedar on the outside, steel core on the inside.

Dropping a finished view of a recent cedar run out here in the wet PNW. Since standard buried wood posts rot out way too fast in this climate, we used a cleaner trick for this build. These posts are actually drilled straight up the center and sleeved right over heavy galvanized steel pipes set 3 feet deep. The wood is kept suspended just above the dirt so it stays dry, and the hidden steel handles the load.

Has anyone else tried this center-boring method? What's your go-to glue or sealant for locking the timbers down to the pipe and keeping moisture out?

Long run is 96ft long. About 20ft of that near the corner was 8ft pickets. The double gate section is about 14ft, with mostly 8ft pickets. What would you have charged for this? I haven't built a fence in almost 20 years and decided to DIY this to bring the fence to the property line (since my stupid neighbor claimed those Cypress trees were his and cut 2 of them down while we were gone one day, oh and hit my carport in the process). My first time doing a double gate, and I definitely learned some ways to make it better next time. Thanks for any feedback!

Freestanding gate help for amateur
I would like to build a gate for this path on the side of my house. I really don't like the metal posts and am planning to remove those. The long-term plan is to replace that fence on the left and extend it around the front yard, but for now this gate would be freestanding. What is the best way to put the posts in for this section?

Right now my plan is:

Dig footings, fill with some gravel, pour footings using concrete forming tubes. Then attach 6x6 posts to the footings using post brackets (I am having trouble figuring out if this would support enough weight or which brackets to use).

I am trying to avoid setting the posts in concrete. I am not sure if I could attach the post closest to the house to the house itself, or if that would require cutting the siding. Is there anything wrong with my plan or something I am missing?

Using a postmaster post to build our fence, if I carriage bolt to the post will that work? The wood is a 2x4 cut so the 2 holes line up to the steel, so it probably doesn’t have much load bearing strength on the right 2 holes.
(A picket will go between the steel post hinge, just a visual of how it will attach)

Fence gate is sagging - any decent fix aside from redoing the gate myself?
Built two summers ago, latch now rubs and has to be lifted to close properly. Builder was relatively cheap. Thinking a simple solution is to add a sturdy handle to make it easier to lift to close properly. Wondering about some kind of vertical brace that we’d have to walk under? What are my options? Thanks
