The Deaf and Hearing Network - DHN

The Deaf and Hearing Network - DHN DHN is a news broadcast that incorporates American Sign Language, spoken English and captions into e DHN is a news broadcast out of Phoenix, Arizona.

We incorporate American Sign Language, spoken English and captions into each broadcast. There are 48 million deaf or hard of hearing people in America and the majority of them are born into hearing families. Very few of those families will learn sign language - American Sign Language, ASL. This gives the entire family access to news. This is the first news show to involve all three forms of commun

ication and give information relevant to everyone whether they are involved in the Deaf community or not. What most people fail to realize is that English and ASL are two completely different languages with their own grammatical structures. Plus, English is a second language for most deaf people and the lag and inaccuracy in live captioning can make daily news a daunting task. DHN hopes to grow into a national, daily broadcast with news segments and other network programs. We currently air on local channels and online.

At the for our awards in NYC! What a wonderful ceremony so far!

06/17/2015

This isn't an easy thing to say. We have been working tirelessly to get DHN off the ground for the last two years. As you know we are a volunteer organization with just two people working - after a long and hard effort to make it work, we realized that we just didn't have the right resources: money, people, time, etc. These reasons have led us to shut down DHN for the time being.

We truly appreciate your continued support and belief in our dream! We hope that one day things will work out and we will be able to make this a reality.

Thanks again for everything.

Sincerely,
Peyton and Melissa

All 6 VRS Providers Unite Against FCC's Lack of Follow Through

We are about half way through the four-year rate cut decision for VRS. Along with the rate deduction plan, the FCC announced a number of cost assistant programs to offset the losses. Jeremy Jack, representing all six VRS providers tells us how the only thing the Commission has followed through on is cutting VRS income.

Does Wearable Fitness Technology Actually Help?

Fitness trainers seem to think so. Even doctors have come out saying that if people count calories and use the wearable tech to stay in shape it could solve a number of health issues.
