Brophy Prep alum Benjamin Morrison held a pre-draft workout for multiple NFL teams on Monday, aiming to prove his health after a season-ending hip injury during his last college football season.

The injury halted Benjamin Morrison physically, but mentally, he was prepared for it. He dealt with the same injury in high school. He said the main difference about the recovery process this time around was the approaching NFL draft: A life-changing moment ahead can provide motivation.

Still, it’s a process. The training, film study, team meetings and sacrifice – all to make a dream come true.

Former Brophy Prep and Notre Dame cornerback Benjamin Morrison worked out for NFL teams for the first time since his season-ending hip injury, hoping to prove he’s healthy ahead of the draft.

At this point of the 2025 USL Championship season, Phoenix Rising FC is still looking to form an identity. A 1-3-3 record places the club at the bottom of the table, but the season is 30 games long and the players and coach know work remains.

“Some weeks are harder than others. I’m proud of everyone because it’s not easy to play in the afternoon in the sun. It was good to keep the momentum right and now we’ll come back next week.”

The Phoenix Rising have had a slow start to the season, but after recent match performances, there is reason for optimism. With two matches leading up to their Cup game, the Rising will look to continue their recent track of momentum.

Tyler Shough, a 25-year-old signal caller from Chandler, has the fighting spirit of a warrior who has been challenged time and time again.

“He’s always been a kid who earns his worth,” said Glenn Shough, Tyler’s father. “Nothing was ever given to him, as a quarterback at Hamilton (High School). He was the first junior to start since the ‘90s and he had to go earn it. When he went to Oregon, he had to go earn it, Texas Tech his junior year his coaches were very transparent and told him you got to earn it, and he did. So his intrinsic motivation is very apparent.”

Reporter Luc Carter has more on Shough's journey.

Tyler Shough was the starting quarterback at Hamilton High School in 2016 and 2017. After three colleges in seven years with two major injuries, Shough sits on the cusp of his NFL goals.

“The process that we do, that our scouts do, that our coaches do. It’s the same every year, whether we’re picking at three or four like we have the last two years. To pick at 16 this year, we have to be ready. We never know what’s going to happen on draft night.”

For the Arizona Cardinals, being flexible will be crucial for tonight's draft. General Manager Monti Ossenfort has made sure his front office is ready for anything.

Holding the 16th overall pick, Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort and coach Jonathan Gannon are navigating a draft filled with unpredictability.

In a landmark decision for college athletics, a California judge is preparing to settle a former ASU swimmer’s lawsuit against the NCAA. The decision allows college athletes to be directly paid by their schools, ending the amateurism model that has been a core pillar of the NCAA since its founding in the early 1900s.
