Baby Hunter is testing the water play at the farm before we open. The grass area is perfect for water play and gatherings. Itโ€™s all about peaceful moments, and time to explore.

Children learn best by doing and having the space to connect in a relaxed environment.

๐Ÿฅ› June is Dairy Month... but did you know dairy doesn't just come from cows?

At Leaning Post Acres, our dairy stars are goats! ๐Ÿ

Goat milk has been consumed around the world for thousands of years and is one of the most widely consumed dairy products on the planet.

A few fun dairy goat facts:

๐Ÿ A healthy dairy doe can produce milk for 8โ€“10 months after having kids.

๐Ÿฅ› Goat milk naturally contains smaller fat globules than cow milk, which is one reason some people find it easier to digest.

๐ŸŒŽ More families worldwide drink goat milk than any other type of milk.

๐Ÿผ Dairy goats have been providing milk, cheese, soap ingredients, and other products for homesteads for generations.

๐Ÿ’™ A dairy goat's udder can hold several pounds of milk, and some high-producing does can make over a gallon of milk per day!

One of our favorite things about dairy goats is how intelligent and personable they are. They aren't just livestockโ€”they become part of the family. Many of our goats know their names, come running when called, and happily follow us around the farm looking for snacks and attention.

This Dairy Month, take a moment to appreciate the animals that help feed families, teach valuable homesteading skills, and connect us to where our food comes from.

Have you ever milked a goat or tried goat milk products? Tell us below! ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ๐Ÿฅ›

Welcome to the farmstead piggies!

These Berkshires will be included in our pork breeding and production program.

Pork shares will be coming in the future.

Berkshires are a heritage pig breed from England, known for its black coat with white โ€œsocks,โ€ face, and tail tip, and for producing high-quality, flavorful, and juicy pork, often called โ€œKurobutaโ€ in Japan. They are hardy, good-natured, and have a distinct, fine-textured meat with excellent marbling, making them popular for premium pork products.

Did you know! ๐Ÿท Pigs love mud because it cools them? Pigs do not have sweat glands for natural cooling. So they donโ€™t sweat. They use mud to both cool them and act as a sunscreen to protect their skin.

This is a happy girl right here! ๐Ÿฝ
