FYI readers: This is from the state statues—If a vacancy occurs in any elective office other than the office of mayor, a successor to the vacant office shall be selected by appointment by the mayor with the advice and consent of a majority of the remaining members of the council. The council may adopt procedures to fill vacancies consistent with this section. The successor shall serve until the next available regular municipal April election. If a vacancy occurs in any office not elective, the mayor shall appoint a suitable person to discharge the duties of the same until the first regular meeting of the council thereafter, at which time the vacancy shall be permanently filled.

The date for public comment on the proposed water and sewer rate increase has changed. The public hearing will not be held July 22. It will now be held during the August city council meeting, which WILL NOT be a 5 p.m. meeting, but another 1 p.m. meeting on Aug 12. Currently, the city council is operating with a three-person council, after Chris Harris tendered his resignation due to selling his home inside the city limits of Piedmont. With Kyle Allen's job, he cannot attend 5 p.m. meetings and in order to have a quorum, they need Kyle at the meetings so dates are being switched to accommodate his work schedule.

The time of the Tuesday, July 8, Piedmont City Council meeting has been moved to 1 p.m.
