Little bit of an impromptu storm chase today with one brief strong storm leading to another, then another, and then another... You get the idea. Lots of turning around and winding up back in the spot we were 10 minutes ago today, but that's how it goes, and we got some awesome structure, a bit of small hail, and some wind damage out of the chase!

Here is a look at estimated rainfall totals as of 8:00 PM this evening. We're curious about how much rain your area received today; send us your rain gauge and weather station measurements in the comments below, along with your location!

The second graphic is the most recent US Drought Monitor, which showcases which parts of our area are experiencing abnormally dry conditions, or even drought conditions. What you'll notice is that today's rainfall seemingly avoided the vast majority of areas that really needed the rain, thankfully however, the Mount Pleasant area was an exception to this and radar estimates more than 2 inches of rain fell in that area so we are especially curious about rainfall totals up in that area!

⛈ Many areas may finally get some much-needed rain today as scattered showers and storms move through the area. A low severe weather risk is in place today thanks to building instability (storm energy), especially east of I-69. Damaging winds of 40-60 MPH would be the main concern with this activity, although some small hail is possible with the strongest storms, and frequent lightning is likely as well.

Perhaps the more "widespread" concern, albeit low, is the risk of excessive rainfall and torrential downpours. The WPC has outlined much of the area East of US-131 in a level 1/4 Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall today. Narrow swaths of totals exceeding 1 inch to as much as 3 inches could cause localized flooding or flash flooding!
