âWhy are you so good at the news voice?â
â¨Contextâ¨
Iâve wanted to be a TV news reporter since the 4th grade. Iâve been wearing blazers and talking like this for fun since I was 9 years old. I did it through high school, college, professionally on TV, and now on social media.
Over the weekend, I was inducted into the University of Indianapolis Communication Department Wall of Fame. I graduated from UIndy in 2015. At the time of graduation, I was hired as a TV news reporter for the CBS affiliate in West Lafayette, WLFI-TV. I spent four years there anchoring and reporting the news until I was hired as a TV news reporter at FOX59 News and CBS4 Indy in 2019. I absolutely loved this dream job I wanted since the fourth grade! But I loved being a mom more. At the time, I was a single mom of a two-year-old boy. ďżźďżźMy schedule was brutal and even when I wasnât reporting, I was busy looking for stories and distracted from motherhood. That is, until I started reporting on it. My satirical parenting reports went viral and allowed me to make content creation my career! If you are reading this right now, have watched my videos, interacted with them, or are following me, youâre allowing me to live my dream without having to choose between a job and motherhood. THANK YOU! And thanks to the University of Indianapolis Communication Department ďżźfor giving me the skills, confidenceďżź, and experience to pursue a career I never planned. This degree wasnât just a ticket to get the dream job I thought I wanted. It was a toolkit to get the dream job I never knew I needed! Iâm humbled and honored to be on the Wall of Fame and I hope my story inspires others to take a chance on a better path they didnât necessarily plan. â¤ď¸
